Record breaking

As of today, the national price of gasoline at the pump in Italy has reached the unprecedented level of 1.60 Euro/liter, which translates into US$ 9.00 per US gallon.
Good luck folks!

  1. Needless to say we have achieved your record long ago here in Greece.
It is the first time that I considered gas prices as a plus parameter about where to go by looking at Europe's map. At the same time I have to admit that accommodation is consuming much more money than my efficient V-strom 650 does, so maybe it doesn't make that much difference going to a cheaper (fuelwise) country . Unless...we talk about Ukraine or Russia which are both not that high on my hit list :)

  2. Unfortunately, gas price by itself is not relevant unless taking into account local wage levels and cost of living. In that respect there are worse places than Italy and I suspect Greece may be one of them.
After the disruption of the USSR, there was a time in Ukraine when the average monthly salary could buy 10 Kg of bread, or 3 Kg of sausage, or a couple liters of gasoline.
We all need to pull ourselves out from the "system" and try to go back to a more reasonable way of life.

  3. Totally agree on that Ant. That's what I say as well but you know...people are quite spoiled and want to vote for politicians who promise them a cheap car. Great culture eh? :)
